MAMMOTH RALLY FILM INDUSTRY BUNDH SUCCESSFUL

There was traffic jam, there was silent protest, rally and on the streets the entire Kannada cinema industry protested the proposed invasion of service tax for film industry by the central government.

On February 23 at 11.15 am the bigwigs of the Kannada cinema industry assembled at Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and moved to Gandhi Statue at Anand Rao Circle for a garland to father of the nation.

From that place the bigwigs walked straight to the house of Governor of Karnataka Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to Governor Hansaraj Bharadwaj. In the afternoon they deviated to personal work.

The exhibitor, distributor, producer sectors joined the protest and even the separate identify seeking Odhu Gowder in North Karnataka also cooperated in the protest it is reliably learnt.

From KFCC dream merchant of Kannada cinema V Ravichandran, Ambarish, century star Shivarajakumar, Puneeth Rajakumar, Sudeep, S Narayan, Ashok, Srinagara Kitty, Pankaj, KFCC members went in a protest rally to submit the memorandum to Government of Karnataka.

The single screens remained closed. The day bund of all sectors halting the activity comes to Rs.50 crores loss to the Kannada cinema industry. There are five thousand cinema workers and five thousand daily wage and employees at the 800 cinema halls spread in Karnataka. The studios halting activities, one day call sheet of all actors and 40 films under production in Kannada would lead to Rs.50 crores loss according to economic pundits of cinema.
